Sams Club

I just submitted this to This is Broken.com. ( although due to the amount of submissions they get, there is only a 10% chance it'll make it up there)

I placed an order on SamsClub.com. SamsClub.com is not actually an e-commerce site, so it was an order that I would have to pick up in the store.

I realized I had selected the wrong location for pickup and wanted to try to cancel my order. As you can see in the screenshot "You can cancel the order by contacting a member service rep within one hour."

First off, there is no number on the site, so how do I know where to call? That is inconvenient, but I'm not sure if it makes it broken.

The number was in the notification e-mail I received. I gave them a call and got through to a service rep. I gave him my order number and it was not yet in his computer. He told me that there was a 20 minute delay before the order would show up on his computer. He asked me to call back in 10-15 minutes.

This is broken.

pete goins's Gravatar Beware!!!!!!!!
I brought a 84 month automobile battery with a two year free replacement warranty from Sam's Club. Shortly after purchasing the battery, I drop my Sam's Club membership because I am single and really don't purchase in bulk. Then the unthinkable, the battery died. I call sam's and inquire about how I could get an adjustment since the battery was only 18 months old. I was told, the warranty became invalid after I dropped the membership. This applies to all warranties, even if you purchase a high ticket item such as a big screen with a two year warranty, it would be void if you drop your membership.

Don't buy high ticket item with a warranty unless you plan on staying a sam's club member. Their prices really don't beat the competition when you have no warranty. remember to shop other places for price comparisons, because this could become very expensive.

I won't shop sam's or walmart again in life, not only are they stiffing the employees with no benefits, they are stiffing customers for things purchase in good faith.

Ronda's Gravatar We are going thru hell with Sam's club extended warranty also. First they told us that our HD television would be replaced or a check sent out due to the length of time (45 days) and that the part couldn't be found. Now they are sending our TV out for 30 more days and they made it a separate claim because as they worded it, their discretion. Also they have told us that the warranty doesn't cover usable parts. Okay? Basically you get what you pay for go to Best Buy pay a lot more but you don't go thru the hassle, we will never buy anything electronical from Sam's club again.

carol's Gravatar I am finding that Sam's Club prices can be found other places, plus you don't have to pay the membership fees there. Not worth it by the time you have to drive there when it is 40 miles away. It used to be where they would pay you the difference if you did not at least save the membership in savings. I can find the same, or lower prices in my hometown without buying in bulk sometimes, and the things I can save on, are ruined by the membership and the gas to drive there.

roger's Gravatar Went to Sam's Club to pruchase an item in their catalog. Their computer said they have 100 of the item, but no one could find them. Store manager was useless. Terrible customer service!

Jennifer's Gravatar I contacted samsclub.com MULTIPLE times about regarding 45 bunk beds and 90 mattresses. The shipping was $2,000. They told me to put in a vendor request to decrease the shipping charge because i have access to a loading dock. Two reps called me to confirm my address of my ...I confirmed it TWICE and had to still wait 48 hrs for someone to call me back about the final pricing. I called back multiple times to see if my request for a reduced shipping charge was lowered (bc I have access to a dock) and no one could give me a straight answer. Two months later NO ONE has EVER called me back!! HORRIBLE customer support!

Jeffry Houser's Gravatar Jennifer,

I'm confused. You said you confirmed the address, twice, and then had to wait 48 hours for someone to call you back w/ the final pricing.

Then you go on to say that no one called you back. Aren't these competing arguments?

John Dooley's Gravatar I have found that many items are the same or cheaper at Walmart. Sams accepts no coupons and Walmart does. Sams gas prices are the same or higher than a lot of places. Sams clubs do NOT accept American Express or Visa credit cards only debit cards.
Why pay the $40 membership fee????
